NEW YORK -- The Greater New York Chapter had a strong showing in the 26th Annual AIDS Walk New York on May 15, raising $1,061 in support of the east coast’s first and the world’s largest AIDS fundraising event.
UANYC's energetic, six-person team was among a massive crowd of 45,000 participants in Central Park for the 10-kilometer walk. The chapter's contribution was part of a fundraising total that amassed over $6.2 million to combat the epidemic. For UANYC's solid showing, the team was named a Star Walker.
Participating in the walk were Benjamin Holmes, Elise Zieman, Caroline Cooney, Reese Goode, Valenica Porter and Christopher Hollinger. Porter serves as UANYC's Community Service Chair and coordinated the chapter's participation in the event.
Contributing to the chapter's fundraising efforts were Jeff Adams, Katherine Dietzen, Julia Seong and Alye Ward.
